3.1.1 Explain Newton’s Universal Law of Gravitation: F = Gm1m2/r2

Suggested activity:
Discuss that the gravitational force exists between two objects in the universe.

Note:
Gravitational force can be explained by Newton’s Universal Law of Gravitation.
F is directly proportional to the product of masses of the objects and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.
From the law: F = Gm1m2/r2

where,
F = gravitational force between two objects
m1 = mass of first object
m2 = mass of second object
r = distance between the centre of the two objects
G = universal gravitational constant (G= 6.67 x10-11 N m2 kg-2)
