Sata is a traditional dish from the state of Terengganu. Sata is a mixture of fish meat with basic ingredients like coconut, garlic, chilli, ginger, sugar and salt. The mixture is then wrapped in a banana leaf in cone-shaped or triangular pyramid, and cooked on a grill.

If seen in terms of how to make it, it is closely resembles the otak-otak. However, there are differences between the two food. The difference lies in the shape, appearance, colour and packaging. Compared to otak-otak that are placed in layers of thatch and clipped at the top end of both sides, sata is wrapped in banana leaf and folded.
