Knowledge you should achieved after following this lesson..
1. When a current, I, flows in a cable, the power loss, P through heating is given by P=I2R where R is the resistance in the cable. Heat losses can be minimized by decreasing the current, I in the transmission cables.
2. To transmit a given power, P=VI, the current, I can be decreased only by compensating with an increase in voltage, V.
3. High-voltage power lines are used to transmit power over long distances.
